joybox Terms of Service
Last updated: October 21, 2026
These joybox Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the joybox service, including any related websites, checkout pages, digital song generation workflows, delivery communications, and the Joybox iPhone app (collectively, the "Service"). In these Terms, "we," "us," and "our" refer to joybox.
By using joybox or placing an order, you agree to these Terms.
1. Eligibility and Orders
- You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) to place an order.
- You agree to provide accurate order details, contact information, and payment information.
- We may refuse, limit, or cancel an order for suspected fraud, abuse, unlawful use, or technical errors.
2. What You Are Buying
- joybox creates a personalized digital song based on your prompts, preferences, and submitted details.
- Because outputs are personalized and generated with creative and automated systems, each output may vary.
- Delivery windows shown at checkout are estimates, not guarantees, unless expressly stated otherwise.
3. Pricing and Payment
- Prices are displayed at checkout before payment.
- By submitting payment, you authorize us and our payment processor to charge the full amount shown at checkout, including applicable taxes and fees.
- If a payment method fails or is declined, we may suspend or cancel the order until payment is completed.
- Purchases made in the Joybox iPhone app are charged by Apple, not by us. Section 14 explains.
4. Text Message Communications
If you provide your phone number and choose or consent to SMS delivery or order updates, joybox may send transactional text messages about your custom song, gift, account, checkout, delivery status, or support request. These messages are not third-party marketing texts.
Message frequency varies based on your order and account activity. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out of text messages and HELP for help. Opting out of SMS may limit text-based delivery or status updates, but we may still contact you by email or other permitted service channels about active orders.
Optional Joybox Text Programs
Joybox is operated by S1 Media Ventures LLC. Separately from transactional messages, U.S. mobile subscribers aged 18 or older can sign up at https://joybox.studio/joybox/sms or through the separate recurring-marketing checkbox under email in the main song funnel for recurring automated marketing text messages about personalized songs, gifts, seasonal ideas, product news, and Joybox offers. You consent by entering your own mobile number, selecting the initially unchecked marketing consent box, and submitting the form. Marketing consent is optional and is not a condition of purchase or using Joybox.
Joybox's song-creation pages, when enabled, may also offer a separate, initially unchecked text consent box at the step where you enter your email. If you enter your own mobile number and select that box, Joybox may send a promotional link to preview that song and up to three promotional reminders if you have not purchased, up to four texts per song and none after purchase. This is consent to the promotional texts described beside that box for that song only; it does not enroll you in the separate recurring marketing text program. When a text confirmation is requested, reply YES to confirm before messages begin. Finished songs are delivered by email. Email delivery and purchase do not require text consent.
Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe or HELP for help, or email contact@joybox.studio. If you previously opted out, reply START to the same number to allow messages again; marketing messages still require recorded consent for the specific text program. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. We do not sell or share mobile numbers, SMS opt-in data, or consent with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Our Privacy Policy at https://joybox.studio/joybox/privacy describes how we handle your information.
5. Refunds, Revisions, and Final Sale Terms
- Our refund practices are governed by the joybox Refund Policy at https://joybox.studio/joybox/refund-policy, which is incorporated into these Terms.
- All joybox orders are final once placed and are not eligible for cancellation, refund, or revision, except where required by applicable law, as described in Section 14 for App Store memberships, or as expressly stated in the joybox Refund Policy.
- If an order is eligible for a correction due to a verified production defect (for example, failed file delivery or materially wrong output versus submitted inputs), we may provide a remedy in our discretion, such as re-render, replacement, or account credit.
6. License and Intellectual Property
- Subject to these Terms and full payment, you receive a personal, non-exclusive license to use the delivered song for lawful personal use.
- Unless expressly granted in writing, you may not resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit joybox outputs at scale.
- You represent that your submitted prompts and materials do not infringe third-party rights and are lawful to use.
- We retain all rights in the Service, software, website, branding, and underlying systems.
7. User Content and Conduct
You agree not to submit content that is unlawful, infringing, defamatory, hateful, abusive, or otherwise prohibited. We may reject or remove content that violates these Terms or applicable law. Section 16 adds rules for shared content.
8. Disclaimers
- The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.
- We do not guarantee uninterrupted operation, exact artistic outcomes, or that every output will match subjective expectations.
- To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we and our affiliates will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, goodwill, or business opportunities arising from or related to the Service.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for any claim related to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid to us for the order giving rise to the claim.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless joybox and its affiliates from claims arising out of your use of the Service, your submitted content, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.
11. Dispute Resolution; Arbitration; Class Action Waiver
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved by binding individual arbitration, not in court, except claims eligible for small claims court.
- You waive any right to participate in a class action or class-wide arbitration.
- Arbitration will be administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under applicable rules.
If a court determines this arbitration provision is unenforceable in your jurisdiction, disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California, and each party consents to that venue and jurisdiction.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, and applicable federal law.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Updated Terms are effective when posted with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after updates means you accept the revised Terms.
14. Joybox for iPhone
These Terms also apply to the Joybox iPhone app. Joybox is operated by S1 Media Ventures LLC.
These Terms are between you and us. Apple is not a party to them. Apple is not responsible for the app, its content, our support, or any claim about the app.
App Store membership
- You can subscribe to a Joybox membership in the app. It is an auto-renewing subscription. The app shows the price, the length of each billing period, and any introductory price before you subscribe.
- Apple charges your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. The subscription renews automatically for the same period at the price shown in the app, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Apple charges the renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
- To manage or cancel, open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then tap Subscriptions. Cancelling stops future renewals. You keep access until the end of the period you already paid for.
- Apple handles billing and refunds for App Store purchases. Apple, not Joybox, decides refund requests, which you can make at https://reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot cancel an App Store subscription for you.
- The final-sale terms in Section 5 and the joybox Refund Policy do not limit your right to cancel an App Store subscription or to ask Apple for a refund under Apple's policies.
- If Apple refunds a purchase, or a renewal payment fails and Apple's grace period ends, your membership access ends.
- Deleting your Joybox account does not cancel an App Store subscription. Cancel it with Apple first.
- A membership is linked to the Joybox account you were signed in to when you subscribed. On a new iPhone, use Restore purchases in the app.
- If you have a Joybox membership that was not bought through Apple, it also works in the app. Apple does not bill it. It is managed outside the App Store, so email contact@joybox.studio for help with it.
Permissions
The app may ask for access to your Contacts, Calendar, microphone, speech recognition, and notifications. Each is optional, and you can change them in iOS Settings. Our Privacy Policy explains what we do with each.
15. AI-Generated Content
- joybox uses artificial intelligence to write lyrics, create music, and create card art from what you give us. To do that, we send your inputs to the AI providers named in our Privacy Policy. In the iPhone app, we ask your permission first. We also use an AI moderation service to screen text that other people add (see Section 16).
- AI output can contain mistakes, such as a wrong word or a name sung incorrectly. Check the song, lyrics, and card before you send them.
- Your content. You keep what you submit. You give us permission to use it to create, store, show, and deliver your Joybox, to give you support, and to run the Service, including sending it to those AI providers for that purpose.
- The output. The delivered song, lyrics, and card are licensed to you under Section 6. We keep all rights in the Service itself. Because AI creates the output, we cannot promise that it is unique or that any particular legal protection applies to it.
- We may refuse a request, or remove output, that breaks Section 7 or Section 16.
16. Symphony and Shared Content
A Symphony is a song that one person (the owner) starts and invites others to add to, with memories, voice notes, or video.
- Invitations. Only share your Symphony link with people you trust. Anyone who has the link can ask to join, and must confirm their email with a sign-in link before adding anything.
- What contributors add. If you contribute, you confirm you have the right to share what you add. The owner can see it. We use it, together with the other contributions, to create the song with AI.
- Rules. Do not add anything unlawful, infringing, defamatory, hateful, harassing, threatening, sexually explicit, or abusive. Do not add phone numbers, ID numbers, or other people's private information. Do not use Symphony to send spam. Section 7 also applies.
- Screening. We screen the text that contributors add before we keep it, using our own rules and an AI moderation service. Text that our screening finds clearly severe is rejected and not stored. Screening does not catch everything. If we cannot screen a message right away, we accept it but hold it back from the owner and from the song until we can. Voice and video are not screened this way, so owner review and reporting matter.
- Owner controls. The owner can review what has been added, remove an entry, and remove a person. In the iPhone app, the owner can also choose Report and block on an entry. That sends us a report, removes the entry, and stops that person from adding more.
- Reporting. To report content that breaks these rules, email contact@joybox.studio with a link and a short description. In the iPhone app, the owner can use Report and block.
- Our right to remove. We may remove content, including content our screening held back, and may suspend or end access for anyone who breaks these rules.
